Literacy

Literacy skills include the ability to read (or decode), reading comprehension, spelling and written expression.

Literacy skills are essential for everyone as they form some of the foundation for life-long learning. They also encompass enjoyment and being able to access texts in all places of a person’s environment. Literacy can be supported well before starting school by encouraging the development of pre-literacy skills like rhyming and understanding about syllables.

Children with literacy difficulties may also be at-risk for learning difficulties. Click here if you have any questions about how your child might be developing their literacy skills.
